Sustainable production with Cradle to Cradle®

In our modern society, many products are disposed of after use and end up as waste. This behaviour harms the environment and ensures that we need more and more resources to manufacture new products. We want to help protect the environment, and to do that we employ the "Cradle to Cradle" principle. Cradle to Cradle makes our production environmentally-friendly and sustainable.

BE PART OF THE CIRCLE®

What's the message behind this?

With our new brand ONOMATO! Mini&Me, we're launching a completely recyclable collection. In doing this we're setting an example and know that our products fit 100% into the natural, biological cycle of the earth. That's how we conserve our resources and act responsibly on behalf of everyone.

The circle describes the path that our product takes.

Be part of it. If you understand our message and wear our products, treat them with love and pass them on, you too are acting responsibly and making yourself a part of this circle.

So be bold, shop with awareness and become a part of our circle!
Let´s BE PART OF THE CIRCLE®!

How does the Cradle to Cradle principle work?

The Cradle to Cradle® principle forms a cycle. Just like in a circle, there's no beginning and no end to the Cradle to Cradle principle. The principle is unending. Products and resources are always reused.

Cradle to Cradle® – what's that?

Sustainable thinking has become part of our society. Plastic is avoided in the daily shop, and many people look for sustainable products when they're buying clothes. The desire to act sustainably is common. Yet we still don't act accordingly in many areas of our lives.

Many products in our day-to-day lives are disposed of after use. This creates a lot of waste, which in turn causes environmental pollution. Fresh resources must be used for new additional products. Resources are finite, and require both prudent and sustainable action.

The Cradle to Cradle principle transforms a product's life cycle into a never-ending cycle. Nature serves as the template for this. Every falling leaf, every falling flower becomes a nutrient for other organisms. This wonderful principle of nature can also be applied to the manufacture of our products. In the best case, a circular economy is created like in nature, without waste production. A way that protects our environment and preserves our resources.

The specifics of the biological cycle for consumer goods:

The biological cycle refers to products consisting of organic substances. These consumer goods can be composted without any worries.

One example:

A garment is made under energy-saving conditions. At the same time, consideration is given in advance to what will happen to the garment when it's no longer needed. Thanks to being of a particularly high quality, the garment can be worn for a long time. This protects the environment and no additional resources are needed. The garment can be composted if it is no longer being used. It breaks down into its component parts, with flowers and plants using it for nutrition.

Prerequisites

By already considering reuse before production, we create products that meet the prerequisites for the Cradle to Cradle principle. As soon as the prerequisites are met in production, companies receive a rating in the categories: Basic, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

Material health:
In the case of technical equipment, no toxic or environmentally harmful substances may be produced during disassembly, and products made of organic materials that pass through the ecological cycle must be fully compostable and may only be made of organic cotton.

Renewable energies:
Renewable energies protect the environment.
To allow us to produce in a way that saves resources, all processes are to be powered 100% by clean, renewable energy.

100% recycling:
C2C means reusing all materials, whether they're biodegradable materials or technical devices.

Using water:
Water is a precious resource. That's why water should be used effectively in production and waste should be avoided

Working conditions:
Fair working conditions and social justice in manufacturing companies are an important building block of the Cradle to Cradle principle.

Tex-ass Cradle to Cradle®Gold certification

Tex-ass Textilvertriebs GmbH has been rated Cradle to Cradle Certified® in the GOLD category by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute. That means all C2C Certified® GOLD products don't use any materials of concern. Production is based on a strategy that pays great attention to nutrient management, which ultimately makes the products fully recyclable.

Half of the energy used to manufacture a GOLD product is generated from renewable sources. Half of the emissions generated are also offset locally. After appropriate treatment, the outgoing wastewater from the production facilities does not contain any chemicals of concern, and compliance with social standards is also ensured. This involves for example taking on the promotion of social projects, so that there are long-term positive effects on both the production chain and employees' living conditions. Thanks to organic cotton, our Cradle to Cradle Gold-certified garments are made exclusively from natural raw materials, which makes them fully recyclable and compostable

Conclusion: Cradle to Cradle®saves resources

With Cradle to Cradle, we protect our planet and contribute to environmental protection through sustainable production. Fair, social working conditions, renewable energies and production in tune with the biological and technical cycle ensure our planet's protection.
